These are just Theories of course, but we get the feeling from “Daniel Faraday” that you can’t change the past and he makes a few references to this. We can take this 1 of 2 ways…
- You can try to change the past, but it won’t change because it has already happened
- You should not try and change the past
I think we are more on the lines of “you can’t really change the past”. So Sayid’s shooting of Ben as a child is not really changing anything. Maybe he will be saved and grow up to be bitter about Sayid killing him and doing what he can to ruin his life “like he has already”… Or I can be way off here.
